Sanguine Nights

Sketch the vampire

Whispers from the Street

"Hey... Hey.. You're new here aren't you? Should have known… you're still walking around. Tell you what, let old Sketch let you in on a little secret. This place is a piece of shit." Sketch takes a puff off his cigarette, the glow from the cherry illuminating his face.

"Now that the city isn’t trying to eat itself, the Ventrue mucky mucks think that it is safe to come back. Guess what, not so much. It’s like a bad day in Bagdad around here. Hell even the Sabbat bailed. Pulled up stakes... hehehe... and left without even a fight. And I figured the whoopin they gave you guys back in the day meant they weren't planning on leaving." He takes a look around as if he is worried about being watched talking to you.

"Ok, Ok, Ok. So you ain't leavin'. Aight, so the place has changed since you Cammies were here before. You guys no longer run the place. Well, then neither does the Sabbies, now that you mention it." He stares off down the dark street, as if watching something.

"Someone got a wild hair; you know when the Sabbies took over. The place was unlivable. And trust me I lived in some pretty shitty places." Sketch takes a step back and draws another drag off his cigarette.

“So,” he exhales, “with all the stupid shit going on all over the place, those dirty bastards came back. I’m not talking about the church, I’m not talking about those goons in the fatigues, I’m talking about the truly scary ones.” Still, he seems to be watching down the road while he talks.

“You know the ones you can’t see coming? The ones that look like everyday people, until they pull a knife from their pocket and take your head off. Now I’m not saying that the breaches made everyone aware we exist, but there were enough, between the war and the Sabbat celebration party that the city was almost leveled.”

“The only benefit was that the city was already crippled from the recession. No work equals no people. They burnt every place we once held. Even McDougal’s Pub. That was something… I think they had thermite or something in there, cause that took part of the city block.” He smiled a crooked, fanged grin.

"I think they're gone, we've been underground for the past decade. Just now coming out, and of course you bastards come back when the economy gets better. No wonder they call you leaches. Anyway, that is the lowdown. But remember, dark things still lurk in dark places. Sometimes you aren't the scariest thing in this city."
